Dear Pam,

I wish I could recommend a nice new place but only the Rock House made a good impression. I could say more but I don't want to directly attack any establishment because I don't want to damage any place's reputation.

I think on my next trip I'm going to go to one of the AIs and I think it's going to be Hedo. Why? The main consideration is price and comfort.

If I'm going to be spending a thousand dollars them I'm going to go to the place where my money goes the farthest and that is an AI.

Prices in Negril for taxis and food and even rooms was as high as I could find in Orlando or NYC or Hawaii, but those places don't interest me. The other issue is the constant, unending higgling from the locals and the working girls.

I really hate saying it but if the smaller places want to charge the same rates as the big AIs but don't offer the same level of service then I'm moving to the AIs.

I have already experienced the cheaper, wild side of Negril, now I want the comfort and security. I also want to go to a place where there are organized activities, like the "Wild Thing" excursions and the beach at Bloody Bay is wider and nicer than the 7 Mile Beach, which was badly eroded by Ivan. Yes, the beach is probably all fixed by now but the constant higgling with just about everyone I encountered was too much. Also, I had to be extra careful taking photos because on several instances I was hassled by locals who wanted me to pay them for taking photos, even when they weren't in the pic... I was even threatened.

However, at Home Sweet Home everything was, well, sweet... As you can see.
